The craze for modern conventional education has made parents to concentrate more effort on the academic achievement of their kids. This situation most of the times leaves other aspects of their social lives as unattended to. Most times you see parents set up their kids for 70 to 80 percent academic activities. This situation need to be challenged most especially with the current unemployment and underemployment affecting developing countries. Cooking is one necessary skill for members of the society. This, even though more important to the female folks it is not limited to them. During holidays and weekends parents can consider enrolling their wards to catering schools to enable them up their cooking skills. This would be of benefit to the family and the individual.

Musical instruments:

Music is one aspect of human endeavor that sells all over the world. Enrolling your wards to learn music and or musical instruments could spark up interest in musics. During holidays and weekends kids can take this learnings as extracurricular activities that can offer them opportunities for making money latter in life. Musical skills can be beneficial even in his/her school extra curricular activities like boys Scout, parades, and during related religious activities.

Sport activities:

Children can use their spare time and holidays to learn different outdooor and indoor sporting activities that can be used for either excercise, relaxation and even make it a career if properly harnessed. Parents can teach their children how to play games like football, volleyball, basketball, handbook, tennis and other related sports depending on the interest of the child.
