Kidnap kingpin killed, other gang members arrested in Kwara
Local vigilantes are said to have killed the accused leader of a kidnapping gang on Tuesday at Elerinjare axis of Ifelodun Local Government of Kwara State. This is where the gang was hiding.
DAILY POST says that the vigilante team also caught five other members of the kidnapping ring who are thought to have planned the event that happened in the town two weeks ago.
Pastor Johnson Ajiboye, whose wife, Mrs. Bola Ajiboye, was taken from her home in Elerinjare and released after a ransom of N1 million and food was paid to the kidnappers, led the vigilante team to where the claimed kidnappers were hiding.
But things took a strange turn when Pastor Oladipo, who went to give the ransom, was also taken by the kidnappers. Mrs. Bola Ajiboye, on the other hand, was set free.
The kidnappers also asked for N5 million in exchange for Pastor Oladipo’s freedom.
But on Tuesday, a group of vigilantes stormed the suspected kidnappers’ hideout and killed the supposed leader. At least five other people were also arrested.
Reports said that Pastor Johnson and Pastor Oladipo led the vigilante team to where the suspected kidnappers were hiding. This led to a fight and the arrest of five other members of the gang.
SP Okasanmi Ajayi, the spokesman for the state police command, confirmed the arrest by phone to DAILY POST in Ilorin on Tuesday. He said, “I am still waiting for a detailed report to find out if the suspects were really the masterminds of the Elerinjare kidnapping.”
