Gov Abdulrazaq mourns Major Oni killed in Niger by bandits

Segun Abiodun Oni, a Major in the Nigerian Army from the state of Kwara, was recently one of the officers and more than 20 troops killed by bandits in an ambush during a military operation in the state of Niger.

On August 13, 2023, the late Major Oni led troops on a military operation to get rid of thieves in the area. This is when the bloody fight took place.

At different times, Late Oni was the Platoon Commander of the 72nd Special Forces Battalion, the Company Second in Command of the Armed Forces Special Forces Battalion, and the Second in Command of the Defense Headquarters Special Operations Forces Battalion.

He went to military schools in Nigeria, the UK, the US, Belarus, and South Africa to learn how to be a soldier.

In his message of sympathy, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq expressed his sadness over the death of Major to the people of Eruku in Ekiti Local Government of the State and the Nigerian Army.

He said that the death was a big loss for the whole country and especially for Kwara State.
